The High Stakes of Stadium Bids
Lesson 1 of 10
Imagine being handed a massive 1998 Manhattan phone book and asked to transcribe every number into a spreadsheet while doing high-stakes mental math. If you get a single digit wrong, you cost your company a multi-million dollar contract to build a professional sports stadium. This analogy perfectly captures the environment of sports LED integration bids.
When a major stadium sends out a Request for Proposal (RFP), the stakes are incredibly high. A single transposed number or slip of the finger can result in quoting a high school scoreboard price for an NFL arena—a career-ending mistake. At ANC, there is a strict working standard regarding data integrity: client-facing numbers are sacred.
If an internal number is slightly off, it can be caught and corrected in a review. However, if a client-facing number on an official bid form is wrong, the consequences are severe. You don't just lose money; you lose the client's trust. The client will question how they can trust you to hang 10 tons of LED screens above fans' heads if you cannot even get the square footage right on a document. Because human error is inevitable when humans are doing the copying, ANC realized they had to remove the human from the copy-paste equation entirely.
